Is my dog allowed to run freely on the beach?
During the summer months from 1 April to 30 September, your dog must always be kept on a leash, even on the beach. During the winter season from 1 October to 31 March, your dog can run freely without a leash in most places, but you must always keep it under control so that it does not pose a danger to other people or animals. There may be special rules, so always keep an eye on the signs.
What should I remember when going on a camping holiday?
To have a great camping holiday, it's important to be well prepared - for both good and bad weather. For example, bring a few fun indoor games for the kids, a first aid kit in case of an accident, mosquito repellent and sunscreen are also a good idea to have in your bag.

Is there a particularly family-friendly hiking route in the Lake District Søhøjlandet?
Yes, the trail around Almindsø is a certified family trail, and thus recognised as a quality trail by the Danish Hiking Association.
Which hiking route has the highest elevation gain in Silkeborg?
Himmelbjergruten is one of the hiking routes in Silkeborg with the largest height difference - 125 metres from the lake surface to the top of Himmelbjerget.
Who is steering and who provides propulsion in a canoe?
The person steering sits at the back of the canoe. To turn right, put the paddle in the water on the left side and pull back - and vice versa. To brake the canoe, put the paddle in the water behind you and pull the paddle forwards.
The front person acts as the ‘motor’ by paddling on the same side for longer periods of time at a steady, even pace. The person at the back (the coxswain) steers the canoe and keeps the pace while taking small steering strokes. If there are three paddlers, the two in front are the motor.
How long does it take to travel 15 km in a canoe?
The time it takes to canoe varies greatly - so depending on your fitness, experience, the weather and whether you are travelling with children, you can expect a speed of 3-4 km/h. This means you can cover a distance of around 10-20 kilometres per day.
Can you fall over in a canoe?
Yes, you can fall over in a canoe. That's why it's always important that everyone wears a life jacket when travelling in a canoe or kayak. If you do fall over, make sure you don't stand in front of the canoe, as you could get caught between an obstacle in the river and the canoe.
What does a canoe weigh?
A standard canoe weighs approximately 50kg, but can vary depending on size and material.
Where do you sit in a canoe?
The co-pilot sits at the back, luggage is packed from the centre forward and the co-passenger sits at the front. Children under 30kg can sit in the centre.
How many people can sit in a canoe?
Most canoes have room for 2 people and luggage for several days, but you can also rent canoes with room for 3 people or 2 children up to 30kg.
How many kg can a canoe carry?
A canoe can carry up to about 400kg, but the heavier it is, the more unsafe it becomes on the water.
How far can you canoe in a day?
It varies greatly how far you can sail in a day. Depending on your physical condition, experience, weather and whether you have children with you, you can expect a speed of 3-4 km/h and thus achieve a distance of between 10-20 km per day.

How much is a train ticket from Copenhagen to Aarhus?
The price of a train ticket from Copenhagen to Aarhus varies greatly depending on when you travel, when you book your train ticket and whether you want to travel 1st or 2nd class. For example, if you book an orange ticket, you may be lucky to get it from DKK 99, but otherwise prices are around DKK 300 - 500.
Can I buy my bus ticket from the driver on the bus?
On the city buses in Aarhus and Aarhus Letbane, you must have purchased your ticket in advance. Here you cannot buy a ticket once you have boarded.
But you can buy your ticket from the driver in Midttrafik's blue buses. However, it will always be an advantage to have the ticket in place in advance, either via apps or by purchasing from Midttrafik's webshop.

Can I take my dog, bike and pram on the bus?
Yes, you can bring small dogs, cats and other animals on all buses and Light Rail without payment if they are placed in a handbag or similar on your lap and if they remain in the bag for the entire journey. You can also bring your bicycle and pram on the bus if there is room.
Is there a bus ticket for tourists?
Yes, as a tourist you can buy a Day Ticket to Aarhus, and if you want to travel further around the region, you can also buy a Day Ticket for the entire Aarhus Region, which even covers the entire Central Denmark Region.
However, there are many other ways to easily and conveniently get around Aarhus and the entire Aarhus Region.
Can I travel by train, bus, plane or ferry to the Aarhus Region?
Yes, the infrastructure to Aarhus is very good, and there are many good train and bus connections, two airports close by, a ferry with departures from Zealand, and Aarhus is right next to the E45 motorway.
Trains
DSB runs several trains every hour between Copenhagen and Aalborg with stops in Aarhus, and trains from international cities such as Hamburg, Berlin and Munich also have daily departures to Aarhus.

Flixbus has departures between Copenhagen and Aarhus, Viborg, Silkeborg and Randers, as well as trips to and from Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, Milan, Vienna and many other cities across Europe.

The Kombardo bus
The Kombardo bus runs between many of the Danish cities, and in the Aarhus Region these are Aarhus, Randers, Viborg and Silkeborg. So if you're travelling from Herning in the west, Copenhagen in the east or Aalborg in the north, there are always good bus connections.

Flights
Aarhus has two airports close by: Aarhus Airport and Billund Airport, both of which are airports that are closely linked to both Aarhus and the entire Aarhus Region.

Ferry services
The ferry Molslinjen sails several times a day between Zealand and Aarhus, and here you can choose to drive your own car or take the Kombardo bus or Flix bus directly between Copenhagen and Aarhus.
In the summer, Molslinjen also sails between Odden and Ebeltoft.

By car
Aarhus is close to the E45 motorway, which stretches from north to south along the coast of East Jutland and is an extension of the A7 motorway in Germany. The entire stretch of motorway is part of the European route E45 from southern Italy to northern Sweden.
From the west comes Primary Route 15, which covers Herning Motorway, Silkeborg Motorway, and crosses Aarhus where it continues into Djurslandsmotorvejen to the east.
Can I go by train from Aarhus to e.g. Randers and Viborg?
Yes, you can travel with DSB (Danish State Railways) and train operator GoCollective between several stations in the Aarhus Region.

DSB runs between Aarhus, Favrskov and Randers on the national route between Copenhagen and Aalborg.
GoCollective
GoCollective operates between Aarhus and Silkeborg (Route: Aarhus - Herning - Struer) and between Aarhus, Favrskov and Viborg (Route: Aarhus Langå Struer)

City buses (the yellow buses)
The city buses run in Aarhus, Grenaa, Randers, Silkeborg and Viborg.
Regional and local buses (the blue buses)
You can travel with the regional and local buses (the blue buses) across the entire Aarhus Region and throughout the Central Denmark Region.
Where and when does the Light Rail run?
The light rail runs in Aarhus city centre and to Grenaa in Djursland.
The light railway ‘L1’ runs between Aarhus H and Grenaa with stops in Lystrup and Ryomgård, among others.
The ‘L2’ light railway runs between Odder and Lisbjergskolen. On the line there are stations at Aarhus Central Station, DOKK1 and Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby. You can get an overview of the entire route and see all the light rail stations on Midttrafik's website.
What is J-Dag?
J-Dag, J-Day, marks the release of Tuborg's classic Christmas beer in Denmark - a tradition since the 1980s. Every year, on the first Friday of November at exactly 20.59, Tuborg releases their strong Christmas beer. This special beer is only available for ten weeks, making it a must-try for many.

Have you received a parking ticket?
You can file a complaint about a parking fine with the authority that issued the fine. It could be the municipality, the private parking company, or the police. If you want to complain about a parking ticket issued by the police, it must be done with the police.
AarhusCARD
AarhusCARD, the city card for experiences in Aarhus, is unfortunately no longer available. It is no longer possible to buy and use this benefit card. However, as a visitor you can still enjoy various other discounts in the city, such as free admission for children and young people under 18 at many museums and attractions.

Is there a low emission zone in Aarhus?
Yes, the low emission zone (Miljøzonen) in Aarhus encompasses the city center within the ring roads, including Nordre Ringgade, Vestre Ringgade, Søndre Ringgade, Marselis Boulevard, and Sydhavnsgade. Can I rent a bike and ride it to the lighthouse?
Unfortunately not. Rental bikes cannot be used on the beach or in the desert, as they will be damaged. However, walking there is a lovely experience, and you can make a day of it. It is a 3 hour walk each way, and do not forget supplies for the day.
How do I get to Anholt?
The ferry to Anholt leaves from Grenaa. The crossing lasts app. 3 hours (2 hours and 45 min. to 3 hours).
NB: Remember to book accommodation for at least one night, as there is no return ferry on the same day.
How will I get around Anholt?
We recommend that you bring your bike, otherwise, bike and golf cart rental is available on the island. Hiring a taxi is also a possibility, just as you can have your luggage brought between the ferry and the place you are staying at.
Where can I rent a holiday home?
Your options are renting a summer cottage, camping or staying at a hostel, an inn or a B&B.
Can I bring my car to Anholt?
Yes, you can bring your car to Anholt, but you don't actually need it. There are good transport options on Anholt - taxi, luggage transport, bike hire, golf cart hire and sightseeing tours.
It's also expensive and you can't book space for your car and the space on the ferry is often full and is prioritised for transporting supplies and other goods to Anholt.
Can I rent a car or a golf cart?
Car rental is not available, but you can rent a golf cart that is a convenient means of transportation around the island. They are allowed on all roads, but not off-road, on the beach or in the desert, which is a protected area.
Are there any events on the island, and if so, when?
Anholt is a great destination all year round, but most events take place during the summer season.
How long is the Mols Bjerge Trail and where does it start?
The Mols Bjerge Trail is 80 km long. The trail is certified by European Ramblers Association as Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe.
The Mols Bjerge Trail is seperated into three stages: the mountain stage, the Kalø stage and the Ebeltoft stage. The mountain stage (20 km) is a circular route, where you end up where you started - along with being the most challenging. You can park your car in Femmøller By (see on a map).

Is it necessary to book tickets in advance for the boat tour with Hjejleselskabet?
No, it is not necessary, but it is a very good idea to do so!
You can do this on their website. It is also important to remember you have to be there at least 15 minutes before departure, to ensure you still have your seat on the boat. If you haven't bought your tickets online, you need to be there 30 minutes before.
When are ’Hjejlen’ and Hjejleselskabet’s similar boats in service?
‘Hjejlen’ and Hjejleselskabet’s other boats like it are usually in service from May until September. The number of daily departures depends on the season and the weather.

Where can I store my luggage?
You can store your luggage in lockers at the train station. The storage lockers are electronically activated and by the use of credit cards only – all international credit cards are accepted.
When are the shops open in Aarhus?
Aarhus is a city with plenty of shopping opportunities, so it's good to be aware of how the shops are open.
On weekdays, most shops are open from 10:00 to 18:00, Friday 10:00 to 19:00, Saturday 10:00 to 16:00, and the first and last Sunday of every month from 11:00 to 16:00.
