Cultural Experiences on Djursland

The frigate Jylland is a historic naval vessel from 1860 – built for war, used as a royal yacht, and preserved as a museum. Today, it lies moored in Ebeltoft, where visitors can explore the ship’s many decks and experience life at sea, traditional craftsmanship, and maritime technology from a defining period in Danish history – the Schleswig Wars.

Glass - Museum of Glass is an international museum of modern glass art, beautifully situated in the town of Ebeltoft. All year round, you get to experience changing exhibits of world-class glass art. The museum’s permanent collection comprises more than 1,600 pieces from around the world.

At Gammel Estrup Danmarks Herregårdsmuseum, the Manor Museum, you step directly into history. Here you can experience how counts and countesses lived everyday life and celebrations in the manor's grandly decorated halls and parlours.

At Det Grønne Museum - The Green Museum, on Djursland, you can learn about hunting, the forest, agriculture and food all under one roof. Here, history comes to life through exhibitions, activities and stories about nature, local produce and the way of life that has shaped Denmark.

The Museum Østjylland in Grenaa is temporarily closed, but will reopen its doors to visitors on 24 June 2026.

The palace Sostrup Slot oozes of history. From the heyday of masters and mistresses to its time as a refugee camp and later a monastery.

In April 1559, Jørgen Rosenkrantz acquired the farm Holm outside Hornslet from the King. In the following years, he built a castle on that spot and named it Rosenholm after his family.

Visit the Djursland Railway Museum, which is housed in and around the more than 100-year-old locomotive shed in Ryomgård on the beautiful Djursland peninsula.
