Trækstien – part of the Gudenå trail between Silkeborg and Randers
The Trækstien trail forms part of the Gudenåstien route and is the perfect hiking trail for anyone who dreams of getting up close to nature. Stretching over 70 kilometres, the trail winds its way from Silkeborg to Randers, offering unique experiences of nature through the charming countryside of river valleys, forests and open fields.
The Gudenå Trail brings together hiking experiences along Denmark’s longest river, the Gudenå, into a single continuous route. In the Aarhus region, you can explore the trail through towns such as Silkeborg, Favrskov and Randers, enjoying nature, cultural heritage and sections close to the water.
The park and forest Nature National park Fussingø near Randers is open to the public provides good opportunities for walking tours. Enjoy for instance the very beautiful view from Thomasbakke hill or see Fussing vandmølle (Fussing watermill), situated in beautiful surroundings by the dammed millpond.
The forest is situated by the mouth of the Nørreå stream in the Gudenå river approximately 6 kilometres west of Randers. The forest is owned by Randers municipality and is a part of a large recreational natural resort
Do not forget to visit the beautiful meadow area, Vorup Enge, less than 300 m from Randers Regnskov. In Vorup Enge you will get a cosy nature experience: beautiful nature, bird watching towers and pavilion.
Randers Deerpark is located in the beautiful Fladbro Forest, and is the perfect place for the nature loving family. Adults as well as children are able to enjoy the sight of deer in all sizes in their natural surroundings.
The landscape around Sødring is all that is left of the salt meadows that once rimmed the coast between Randers and Mariager inlet. Therefore, a large part of the area has been declared protected in order to preserve the salt meadows.
Randers is full of art in public spaces, both in the city and in the surrounding area! Take a culture walk and discover fascinating sculptures and works of art along the way. Wherever you go, art will appear - in squares, parks and secret corners of the city, but also in the neighbouring towns.
