The Lake District in Denmark’s most stunning scenery
Memories are in sight when you board Hjejlen, the world's oldest operating coal-fired paddle steamer, or one of the eight sisters in the Hjejle Company's beautiful fleet. The Hjejlen sails on the Silkeborg Lakes in the heart of the Lake District Søhøjlandet and gives you a unique opportunity to experience the beautiful nature from the water.
Close to Silkeborg, Denmark's Outdoor Capital, lies the Sky Mountain Himmelbjerget - one of the most iconic places in Denmark's beautiful Lake District Søhøjland. Take a trip to the top of the tower and enjoy the breathtaking views of Julsø, the forests and the charming landscape.
Sindbjerg and Stoubjerg are the names of two heather-clad peaks, located in a stunning heathland north of Sejs - approximately 5 km south-east of Silkeborg.
Trækstien – part of the Gudenå trail between Silkeborg and Randers
The Trækstien trail forms part of the Gudenåstien route and is the perfect hiking trail for anyone who dreams of getting up close to nature. Stretching over 70 kilometres, the trail winds its way from Silkeborg to Randers, offering unique experiences of nature through the charming countryside of river valleys, forests and open fields.
Almindsø - A paradise for water lovers in the Lake District
Lake Almindsø near Silkeborg is one of Denmark’s cleanest lakes. There is no agriculture nearby or polluting drainage into the lake and it is a popular bathing lake with two large pools, Østre and Vestre (east and west), and several smaller bathing spots.
