Velling Forests
The Velling Skovene forests consists of Velling Skov forest and Snabegård Skov forest. Velling Skov forest contains Denmark’s largest stand of 250 to 300-year-old beech trees, which is left untouched as a natural forest.

The forest Silkeborg Vesterskov stretches like an impressive natural treasure south of Silkeborg, framed by Almindsø, Thorsø and Ørnsø. This vast forest area, covering 684 hectares, is not just a state forest; it's a living symphony of mixed deciduous and coniferous trees, including majestic Douglas fir, nobilis and Sitka spruce.

Nature National Park Kompedal Plantage
Kompedal Plantage is one of Denmark’s national nature parks and is an unbelievably beautiful stretch of scenery around Silkeborg. Go for a walk between the moss-clad hillsides, open heather plains, coniferous forest, and outwash valleys.

Stenholt Skov
Stenholt Skov is a protected forest near Engesvang. It consists primarily of oak scrub and holds various ancient relics: Prehistoric mounds, stone formations, traces of a marl track, and the ruins of old peat works.

Gjern Bakker
Gjern Bakker in Central Jutland is a fascinating relic from the last ice age, where the forces of nature have shaped the hilly terrain. The hills were formed as a marginal moraine in front of a mighty glacier and later cut through by huge amounts of meltwater, creating a deep and characteristic tunnel valley from Gjern town to Gudenåen.
