Hiking and running trails in Aarhus
Aarhus is situated near beach and forrest and offer many fantastic nature experiences. Below you can find suggestions for hiking and running routes in and around Aarhus.

Aarhus have all sorts of terrains in form of hills and valleys, forrests and beaches, lakes, rivers and sea. The trails are designed to enjoy the nature, get some exercise and be together with family and friends while discovering new areas in and around the city.
The below trails and descriptions are primarily in Danish, but you can still use the routes and find inspiration to enjoying a good run or hike.

Walking and running route at Mollerup Forest
The Forest Route at Mollerup Skov has two different starting points, one by the parking ground in Mollerup Skov by Skejbyvej (A) and one by the dog training facilities of DCH on Viengevej (B). From one of the starting points, the route takes you through Mollerup Skov, past the golf course and further on to Kirkestien. From the other starting point, you follow the paths south of Egå Engsø/Meadow Lake to Terp.

Walking and running route in Riis Forest
This walking and running route is also called the Pulse Route and starts in Riis Forest at the car park between the old forester's building and the hostel. The route follows the running route around the forest.

AUminoen - Walking route through Aarhus University Park
Discover AUminoen in Aarhus – a signposted walking route through Aarhus University Park and the city’s green spaces. The route combines nature, architecture and history, offering you a varied walk close to the city centre. The route takes you through Denmark’s largest oak park and past museums and special attractions.

Die Küstenroute im Süden von Aarhus ist als Radweg konzipiert, kann aber auch gut mit Lauf- oder Wanderschuhen zurückgelegt werden. In diesem Fall können Sie die parallel verlaufenden Wege anstelle des Radwegs nutzen.

Hiking trail at Vestereng in Aarhus
The country route starts at the car park by the road up to Vestereng on Bodøvej in northern Aarhus. The route goes through the forest in the old military area, past Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby, to the outskirts of the village of Gl. Skejby.

Egå Engsø
Egå Engsø - once meadows - now a beautiful lake area in the suburbs of Aarhus. A huge area of protected bird species.

Brabrand Lake
Enjoy fitness, wild life and nature at the Brabrand Lake in Aarhus. The Brabrand Lake is a rather long, nutritious, shallow lake, situated in the eastern part of Aarhus Ådal (Aarhus Stream Valley) that stretches from the open country west of Aarhus right into the middle of Aarhus.

The Forest True Skov by Aarhus
At True Forest, not far from the center of Aarhus, there is something for everyone. True Forest has plenty of options for a day trip filled with activities or relaxing in one of the many green open spaces.

Årslev Lake
Take a walk round the Årslev Engsø lake and enjoy how the frogs are leaping and hear them croake. You may catch toads in the lake, or climb one of the bird-watching towers and watch the many birds nesting in the reeds.
