Cycling Routes in Randers

This 44.3 km long bike ride goes along the Gudenå along the cycle path between Randers and Langå. The trip also goes to Fussingø Castle, where you can take a swim from the bathing bridge in Fussing Lake. The Gudenå is 158 km and is the longest river in Denmark.

This tour leads all the way around Randers Fjord. It is possible to shorten the trip by crossing the fjord with the ferry at Mellerup-Voer. Length of the route: 85 km / 48.4 km.

The city of Randers was founded on the spot where the crossing of the Gudenå from north to south through Jutland was easiest - or vice versa. The name Randers also means "the city on the hill at the mouth", and here in the Viking Age a trading town arose.

Just before the expiration in Randers Fjord, the Gudenå formed a delta for millennia. This tour leads all the way around the old delta and along the way there is the opportunity to study the bird and wildlife from two bird towers.

Hvidsten Resistance Group (Hvidsten Gruppen) was a receiving group associated with the Danish resistance movement during the German occupation of Denmark 1940-45. The tour leads to some of the sites that are associated with the group's efforts during WW2.

In the municipality of Randers there are about 350 visible and preserved ancient monuments: burial mounds, stone jets from the Stone Age and rune stones from the Vikings.

It is the chronicle writer Saxo Grammaticus, who about the year 1200 tells the story of the Jutland chief son, Amled. Amled must have lived around the year 500, and when he himself died, he must have been buried at Ammelhede by Randers, the target of this trip.

The tour first goes along the Gudenå through the Vorup Enge nature area and past Fussingø Castle and Fussing Lake, before reaching the protected nature area Læsten Bakker, where animal and plant life is incredibly rich.

The Kulturringen bike route crosses through the beautiful Favrskov area, and you can choose to go the entire distance, or take your pick among three lovely and shorter bike trips – from Pøt Mølle to Gudenåen (18.7 km), from Gudenåen to Laurbjerg (24.4 km), and from Laurbjerg to Clausholm (24.4 km).

Enjoy at cycling tour along the old railway and one of Jutland's first railways - the section between Randers and Hadsund. Today it is a bike and hiking trail from Randers to Spentrup and via Bjergby and Borup.

Route 26 is particularly good if you interested in Danish history - the route passes famous author Steen Steensen Blicher's home and grave, Allestrupgård Plantation which was used by the British during the Second World War as a dropzone.
