The best beaches in the Aarhus Region
The beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, with many child-friendly beaches offering soft, white sand and plenty of space for swimming, playing and fun. The East Jutland coast is known for its shallow waters, making it a popular and child-friendly holiday destination every summer.

Grenaa Beach
The fine sandy beach, with a low water depth, is designated Denmark's second best beach. Grenaa Beach consists of two beaches, both of which are worth a visit.

Fjellerup Beach
Fjellerup Beach has a Blue Flag Station with play opportunities. It is a fine sandy beach with low water depth.

Bønnerup Beach
Bønnerup Beach has a lot of life in the summer months and is associated with Bønnerup Harbour.

Boeslum Beach
Boeslum Beach has a fine white sand beach and beautiful clear water, which gets deep quite quickly, but nevertheless is a good family beach.

Ahl Beach
Shallow water, sandy banks and plenty of birdlife. The water on both sides of the ferry port is shallow and warm, with large sandy islands that appear at low tide.

Vibæk Beach by Ebeltoft
The beach is generally very child and disability friendly.

Ballehage Beach by Marselisborg Forest in southern Aarhus
Ballehage Beach is located at the edge of Marselisborg Forest, 2 miles south of the city centre. Ballehage beach is a beautiful beach with a sandy bottom and a large bathing jetty. Changing rooms, all mod. con.

The Harbour Bath in Aarhus
Tourists and people of Aarhus can go for a swim at the harbour batch located on Aarhus Ø (east) next to Bassin 7.

Femmøller Beach
The beaches are fine, but quite narrow sandy beaches, with salt marshes, except for Strandkær, where the beach is bounded by a small oak.

Moesgård Beach
Moesgård Beach (or Moesgaard Beach) is a sandy beach at the edge of Marselisborg Forest, 5 miles south of the city centre. We recommend bus route 31 to get to Moesgård Beach or you can take bus 18 to Moesgaard Museum, and walk from there (1,1 miles).

The bathing establishment Den Permanente
The beach ‘Den Permanente’ (The Permanent) is by far the most popular beach in Aarhus, and it is only a 10-minute bike ride from the city centre. Here you will find lifeguards during the summer, changing rooms, toilet facilities, and a refreshment kiosk.

Bellevue Beach
Bellevue Beach - 4 kilometres north of the centre at suburb Risskov. Nice sandy beach with very fine sand and bathing jetties. Along the coast north and south of Aarhus you can find some of the country's best beaches.

Udbyhøj Beach
Udbyhøj Strand meets the European Union's Blue Flag criteria and the beach is a family-friendly beach with nearby campsite and playground.

Anholt Vesterstrand
Anholt Vesterstrand carries the Blå Flag as a symbol of its high quality and is a terrific beach with the finest sand. The beach lies right next to Anholt harbour, which has a wide selection of restaurants, kiosks and various other facilities. Take in the view from the dunes and truly get the sense of being under distant, exotic skies.

The Lake Fussing Sø
Fussing Sø is one of Denmark’s largest and deepest lakes, and it is also an amazing place to go swimming. The water there is clean and clear, and the area is surrounded by vegetated hills planted with patches of forest.

Hjarbæk Beach Park
The beach at Hjarbæk is about 10 meters wide and consists of layed out sand.

Nørresøbadet in Viborg
Nørresøbadet is a nice public beach at the lake "Nørresø" in Viborg.

Swimming lake Vestre Søbad im Lake District
Vestre Søbad is located at Lake Almindsø, one of the cleanest lakes in Denmark.

The Lake Bath Østre Søbad by Almindsø, close to Silkeborg, is one of Denmark's cleanest lakes. There are two impressive round bathing bridges right next to each other, with a children's pool and facilities such as changing rooms, beautiful benches, toilets, and a sauna.

The bathing lake and green area "De Små Fisk" between Silkeborg and Sejs is a wonderful and ideal place for many outdoor activities.

Tange Sø
Tange Sø is the largest artificial lake in Denmark it's a good place for swimming.
