The Frederiksgade precinct in Aarhus

Frederiksgade is centrally located in Aarhus as part of Strøget. Benches, greenery and small gathering spots provide a place to settle down and soak up the atmosphere of the street. It’s also a natural route if you’re walking from Magasin to ARoS.

Named after Frederik VI

Frederiksgade is a historic street in Aarhus, where trade has played a central role throughout the ages. The street was originally called Brobjerggade, but was later renamed Frederiksgade following a visit by Frederik VI to Aarhus in 1824. In June 1974, Frederiksgade was converted into a pedestrianised street as part of the urban regeneration programme.
