A historic garden in the heart of Viborg

Latinerhaven is situated on the corner of Sct. Mathias Gade and Sct. Mogens Gade in Viborg’s old town. The garden is one of the last undeveloped plots remaining after the great fire that struck Viborg in 1726.

In the 18th century, the garden belonged to Viborg Latin School. When the school later left the area, the garden was taken over by the city in 1928 and landscaped by the city gardener Rasmus Brostrøm.

Flowers, perennials and schnapps herbs

Take a stroll through the garden’s various sections featuring flowers, perennials and rhododendron bushes. A separate section of the garden features herbs used for making schnapps, adding even more scents and botanical experiences to this historic garden.

Latinerhaven serves as a green oasis amidst the city’s streets and historic buildings. Here you can take a break on a bench and enjoy the garden’s plantings close to Viborg Cathedral and the Cathedral Quarter.
