The Banana Park in Viborg
The Banana Park is a cozy park in the western part of Viborg. The park has an area of 1,8 hectares and functions as an ornamental park and playing field, but also as a supplement to outdoor areas by the local children's institutions.
The Banana Park
The park is named after the banana shaped beds, containing a varied collection of ornamental bushes and trees that surround the playing field.
Viborg Municipality uses the park as a gene bank in coorporation with Dansk Jordbrugsforskning (research of soil use). Here plant material that is not yet available in garden centers, is tested with the purpose of finding healthy, robust and decorative plants suitable for Danish conditions.
In the fusion of the plants emphasis is on ensuring a vigorous and colourful experience.
