Music venues in Aarhus

Aarhus is renowned as a vibrant city of music, and its trademark is the wide range of music available; Grand concerts at The Concert Hall (Musikhuset Aarhus) where you can sit in a comfortable seat and completely emerge yourself in the music; Rock concerts at the Train or VoxHall music venues with lots of action on the dance floor; Jazz sessions at the cosy and friendly pubs; Seductive Latin American rhythms which make it hard not to want to get up and dance; Atmospheric church concerts; or perhaps a mellow guitar concert at one of Aarhus’s many cosy cafés over a comfortable chat at the tables.

Music spontaneously

Here are a couple of tips for those who would prefer to drop in at events in Aarhus without having to order tickets in advance.

In the Concert Hall café there are frequent admission-free events, including concerts featuring the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra or choral concerts. Sit down at one of the tables and enjoy the music and the wonderful surroundings.

Skolegade street is a great place to go for a night on the town. This street is located in the area behind the Aarhus Å river. There are many restaurants in this area serving food at very reasonable prices and many cosy music venues. There is always a good chance of encountering a live concert featuring a wide range of music genres from blues to soul and from pop to rock. Fatter Eskil is just one good place where you can drop in for some live music.

Stand-up comedy, salsa, a mellow guitar concert, poem recitations, lectures – there is a bit of everything for all tastes when you climb the stairs to the “Gyngen” cultural venue, which is situated in a back-garden in the Mejlgade street.  

At many of the cafés there are frequently concerts, such at the Globen Flakket by the river.
