Viborg City Hall
Viborg Town Hall is a striking example of modern architecture in Denmark. The Town Hall was opened in 2011 and played an active role in the EU’s Best Energy project, alongside other European cities. The architecture is a masterpiece created by Henning Larsen Architects.
Energy solutions and rainwater
Viborg Town Hall incorporates a range of solutions for energy, heating, cooling and rainwater. Both inside and outside, systems have been installed, including a groundwater system, heat pumps, solar panels and thermoactive structures with integrated cooling and heating pipes.
The Town Hall’s roof is covered with moss, which collects rainwater. Among other things, the water is channelled to the artificial lake in Town Hall Park rather than directly into the sewer system.
Automated energy management
Heating, cooling and ventilation are controlled automatically. Sensor-controlled lighting reacts to movement, whilst the light level is adjusted to suit the natural light in the building.
