Vejlbo Mose
Close to the centre of Silkeborg is a small breathing space with a short but very beautiful walk around the lake. Take a beautiful walk around and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
Around Vejlsø is a short but incredibly beautiful hiking route of 1.5 kilometres.
The story behind Vejlbo Mose
Vejlbo Mose used to be a shallow lake that overgrown and became a bog. People from the Silkeborg area have dug peat here for hundreds of years. The peat was sailed to the paper mill along a small canal that was dug to Brassø.
In the mid-1800s, paper manufacturer Michael Drewsen started large-scale industrial production of peat. The bog was dug to its full depth, creating the current lake, Vejlsø.
