Tropical Houses at the Botanical Garden in Aarhus

In the Tropical Houses at the Botanical Gardens in Aarhus, you will experience a green world under one roof. Here you can explore four climate zones with plants from all over the world, learn about biodiversity and enjoy a break in the café's green surroundings.

The greenhouses in the Botanical Garden are a unique experience in the heart of Aarhus, where nature is the focus for both children and adults. Under large, bright glass domes, you can explore four different climate zones, ranging from dusty desert landscapes to tropical rainforests and lush Mediterranean plants.

Discover plants from all over the world

In the tropical greenhouse, you are greeted by oppressive humid heat, fluttering butterflies and lifelike animal sounds. Here, you really feel transported to distant climes. Under the enormous dome, you can sneak around on narrow paths and almost get lost among the large trees and wild plants.

But watch where you walk! Some of the plants are carnivorous. If you are brave, you can climb right up to the treetops and look down many, many metres at the trees, plants and flowers beneath your feet.

The little guy “Spire Ib” helps the youngest members of the family explore animal tracks and plants.

Learning and natural science

In addition to botanical experiences, the Greenhouses convey knowledge about climate, biodiversity and plant adaptations in nature. You can download the free digital plant guide via the Useeum app, which makes it even more fun to learn about the different species you encounter along the way.

The plant guide is part of the museum app, Useeum, which helps you get even more out of your experience. You can find the plant guide by searching for Useeum in the App Store or Google Play.

Enjoy a light lunch in the café

In the middle of the greenery, you will find a café where you can enjoy light meals, cakes and drinks in relaxed surroundings – perfect for a break during your visit. The Botanical Garden around the greenhouses also offers quiet paths, lawns and a green oasis that invites you to stay longer.
