Discover the history of the local area in a half-timbered house

Them Fortidssamling is a local museum in Them near Silkeborg, where you can see artefacts from the region dating from the Stone Age right up to the present day. The museum is housed in an 18th-century half-timbered house and offers an intimate insight into rural life at a time when things were used for a long time and rarely replaced.

Old everyday objects and a frugal way of life

The collection contains many old everyday objects that tell the story of daily life, craftsmanship and living conditions in the area. Here, you get a sense of a life far removed from today’s abundance, where practical items in the home and on the farm were of great importance.

Satellite exhibition in Bryrup

Them Fortidssamling also has a satellite exhibition at Østervang 1 in Bryrup. Here you can gain a brief insight into the region’s development from the Ice Age right up to the present day. The satellite exhibition is open on Mondays.
