SPOR Festival in Aarhus
SPOR Festival in Aarhus is an international sound and music festival that highlights experimental contemporary music, sound art and innovative works in unique settings in the heart of the city.
Experimental music and sound in the heart of Aarhus
SPOR Festival is where sound and curiosity meet. Since 2005, the festival has focused on new music, sound art and cross-aesthetic expressions – with works that surprise, inspire and challenge the idea of what music is and can be.
Every year in May, SPOR brings together both international names and new voices on stages around Aarhus. You can experience everything from concert formats and performances to installations and artistic explorations of sound in space – often in the borderland between music, art and technology.
Two artistic tracks
The festival programme is often divided into two tracks:
- An international track with artists and works that you rarely get the opportunity to experience in Denmark
- An experimental track with emerging artists and young talents who challenge genres and frameworks
This provides space for both the groundbreaking and the untried – and creates a festival experience that engages and challenges the audience.
Aarhus becomes the city of sound
SPOR Festival uses the entire city as its setting. Concerts, installations and events take place across Aarhus – from cultural centres and concert halls to galleries and unconventional urban spaces. The festival also invites you to talks, conversations and workshops where you can meet the artists and get a glimpse behind the scenes.
There is room for immersion, discussion and new ways of listening.
