The solar-powered ferry - Solfærgen Søhøjlandet

The Sun Ferry trip itself takes a few minutes, but the short route means you can save many kilometres if you walk or cycle along the lakes in and around Silkeborg.

The small vessel Solfærgen can carry eight passengers. There is also room for bicycles and prams. The ferry is operated by Skyttehuset Outdoor Camp.

The Sun Ferry has fixed sailing times - and only sails if you have notified Skyttehuset Outdoor Camp in advance.

The ferry's electric motor is powered by batteries that are charged by solar cells on the roof. The top speed is around four knots or 7.5 kilometres per hour.
