Sletterhage Fyr on Djursland

Sletterhage Lighthouse on southern Djursland offers views of the Kattegat, exciting geology and access to a shelter, toilet, packed lunch house, and ice cream parlour in scenic surroundings.

Views and experiences at Sletterhage Lighthouse

At the foot of Mols Bjerge, where the hills meet the sea, lies Sletterhage Fyr - an active lighthouse surrounded by magnificent nature and a coastline rich in stories. The lighthouse marks the entrance to Aarhus and offers both sea views and insight into the area's geology and wildlife.

From the top of the 16 metre high lighthouse, there are panoramic views of the Kattegat, Tunø, Samsø and Aarhus Bay. In the lighthouse keeper's residence, you can explore an exhibition about the area's maritime history, nature and the many ships that pass by daily.

Geology and hiking in a glacial landscape

Sletterhage is an ideal starting point for hiking in the unique coastal landscape. There are clear traces of the Ice Age and the beach is known for its many interesting rocks and fossils. You can follow paths along the coast to the nearby German Tower or further into the Mols Mountains.

Migratory birds and traffic at sea

The area is particularly popular with birdwatchers, especially during the migration season. It's also one of the few places where you can experience international shipping traffic up close - directly from the beach.

Enjoy an ice cream with a view

By the car park is Ishuset Sletterhage - a small, locally run ice cream parlour where you can enjoy an ice cream, coffee or a cold drink with a view of the sea. The ice cream parlour is open during the summer months and is a natural stop for many visitors before or after their visit to the lighthouse.
