Halloween and Culture Night in Viborg
Halloween and Culture Night in Viborg transform the city into a spooky universe where you can explore parades, ghost trains and creative cultural events – fun and frights for the whole family in the heart of Viborg.
When Viborg is transformed by shadows and atmosphere
Every year in October, Viborg's historic city centre is transformed into a sensory and slightly spooky experience when Halloween & Culture Night kicks off. Here, darkness meets light, laughter meets thrills – and culture takes on a new and surprising form.
The event combines an atmospheric Halloween celebration with creative and cultural activities that invite both children and adults to an evening filled with experiences, laughter and goose bumps.
Parade, ghost train and trick-or-treat
One of the highlights is the big Halloween parade, where more than 100 costumed participants walk through the pedestrian streets with torches and scary costumes. The parade starts at 7 p.m. from Nytorv and is open to anyone who wants to join in – both as spectators and participants.
The ghost train at Hjultorvet runs all afternoon and evening, offering a free and slightly spooky ride through the city centre. Children can also go on a candy hunt through selected shops in the popular Trick-or-Treat activity.
Culture Night at child height – and in the dark
In conjunction with Halloween, Culture Night unfolds with everything from creative workshops and short film screenings to guided tours of the city's historic buildings. The Arsenal, the old town hall and the Power Station provide the setting for experiences that combine Viborg's cultural history with creativity and cosiness.
Here you can experience artistic installations, take a look behind the scenes or participate in activities that require hands-on work and imagination.
Practical information
Halloween and Culture Night take place on Friday at the end of October – in 2025, this is expected to be 31 October. The activities take place throughout Viborg city centre, with a focus on Nytorv, Hjultorvet, the pedestrian streets and cultural institutions.
All activities are free to participate in, and both the parade and ghost train are open to everyone. Several shops will be open until 9 p.m. There are good parking facilities around the city centre, and many of the activities are accessible for prams and people with walking difficulties.
