Meet the animals and plants of the rainforest

Explore the tropical plants and more than 50 different animal species in Hald Ege Mini Rainforest. Here you can watch marmosets leaping amongst the plants, meet Luffeline the parrot and look out for the turaco.

You can also see fish and reptiles such as king pythons, bearded dragons and geckos. Ask the staff about the animals, or explore the rainforest on a guided tour.

Get up close to the petting animals

At the petting area, you can gently stroke rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and tortoises. Here, you and your family will have the chance to get up close to some of the park’s animals. You’ll need to view the other animals from a slight distance to ensure their wellbeing.

Café and plants to take home

Take a break with a coffee, tea or ice cream in the café. You can also bring a packed lunch and settle down at the outdoor tables and benches.

An attraction with a social purpose

Miniregnskoven is also a workplace for around 35 staff in supported employment. By visiting, you’ll enjoy a wonderful experience whilst supporting the site’s work in creating a meaningful working life for people who require special support.

Take a break from the Hærvejen

Hald Ege Mini Rainforest is situated close to the Hærvejen, south of Viborg, making it an ideal stop on a walking or cycling trip. Here, you can take a break from the route and explore the tropical plants and animals before continuing your journey through the area around Hald Ege.

Practical information

• Open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Closed on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as well as on specific closing days, including during the Christmas holidays.
• You are welcome to bring your own food in the café area, provided you purchase drinks from the café. There are tables and benches outside for free use.
• There is an outdoor playground for children.
• You can pay by MobilePay and cash.
• Dogs are welcome outside the rainforest, but are not allowed inside the rainforest itself.
