A spectacular music programme

With up to 40 concerts spread across three stages, there’s something for everyone. Torvet provides the setting for laid-back dining sessions accompanied by local bands, whilst the Town Hall Stage on Søvej brings together big Danish names such as Lis Sørensen, Kandis, Martin Jensen and Outlandish. At the Harbour, things really get going with a spectacular line-up of international tribute shows – here you can experience everything from Bruce Springsteen, Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC to Tina Turner, David Bowie, Elton John and Coldplay, performed by some of the country’s best tribute bands.

A sea of lights on the water

One of the regatta’s most iconic moments takes place as darkness falls. Every evening, the historic Hjejle fleet – featuring the world’s oldest paddle steamer, in service since 1861 – sets sail from the harbour, followed by a whole procession of illuminated pleasure boats. Together, they form a luminous procession on the water before the fleet returns to the harbour in festive style. It is a sight you will not soon forget.

7 spectacular fireworks displays

All three evenings culminate in a grand fireworks display at Silkeborg Langsø, as well as another show earlier in the evening at Brassø. Behind this year’s fireworks display is Silkeborg resident Benjamin Neis, who has just been selected as one of only four finalists in the international PyroJam fireworks competition in China. This means that the sky above Silkeborg will be lit up this year by one of the country’s most talented teams of pyrotechnicians.

Plenty of space for the whole family

The regatta isn’t just for adults. The area around Søgade is transformed into a huge playground with bouncy castles, a climbing wall and paddle boats, whilst Museumshaven offers activities with the Blue Scouts. On Saturday, Jysk Musikteater really gets into the spirit of the festivities with street theatre, concerts and performances for young and old alike – the perfect day to take the whole family into town.

Free for everyone

The best bit of it all? All events during the Ildfest Regatta are free. So round up the family, friends, your partner or the kids, and make your trip to Silkeborg an experience you’ll never forget.
