Fredenskirken in Aarhus

Fredenskirken in Aarhus was built in 1958-60 and consists of a church hall, parish hall, chapel and a free-standing bell tower. The architects behind the design are F. Niclasen and Aksel Skov.

Six months before liberation, on 24 November 1944, 200 people gathered at Rosenvang School, despite blackouts and the risk of air raid sirens, to hear about the plans for the new church.

Three energetic men were at the forefront of the initiative at this time: Bishop Skat Hoffmeyer, parish council chairman Jens Juul, and chaplain at Viby Church Axel Pedersen.
