Winter activities at Glass - Museum of Glass Art Ebeltoft
Bring the whole family to the Glass Museum during the winter holidays and join a guided tour for all ages or try your hand at sand casting and glass art. Below you can read more about how the winter holidays went in 2025 at the Glass Museum.
Glasmuseet Ebeltoft welcomes the whole family during the school winter holidays. Take the family on a guided tour and release your inner artist in the two workshops. All workshops require a ticket, which can be purchased at go-syddjurs.dk.
Make your own glass art
Enjoy a cosy and creative experience creating kiln-formed glass art (fusing) at your own pace. Make a beautiful glass image from coloured glass pieces that you glue onto a transparent glass plate. Then bring your creation to our glass workshop. Here the glass is melted in the oven at around 700 degrees centigrade and then slowly cooled over a couple of days. The technique is called kiln-formed glass or fusing. Two days later, you can pick up your finished artwork from 13:00.
The activity will take place as a do-it-yourself activity on Tuesday 11 February between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You decide when you want to participate within this time frame. However, please note that you must have handed in your glass picture in the workshop by 16:00. Materials will be handed out upon arrival at the museum.
Sand moulding
Sand moulding involves making an impression of your hand or a figure in wet sand, which is filled with hot glass. When the impression is ready, it is carried into the glass workshop, where you get to get up close and personal as hot liquid glass is poured into the mould.
It takes approximately 15 minutes to participate. You buy a ticket for one of the time slots morning or afternoon and decide when you want to come within the chosen time slot. You can pick up the finished glass figure after cooling the next day from 13:00.
You can participate in casting on Wednesday 12 February from 10:30-12, 12-13, 14-15 or 15-16
Guided tours of the special exhibitions
On Thursdays, Sundays and Thursdays during the winter holidays, there are family guided tours for everyone interested. The museum's children's guides will show you around the two current exhibitions and both the youngest and oldest members of the family are welcome! The tour starts at 14.00 and lasts 45-60 minutes.
