Voel Church
The modest brick church Voel Church, built in 1876, was decorated inside in the 1930s by the artist Jais Nielsen, who provided all of the church's windows with glass mosaic panes.

A small church with a long history
Voel Church is located in Voel near Silkeborg and was consecrated on 2 August 1876 as Voel Chapel. The church was built because the residents of Voel, Sminge and Voel Østermark wanted a shorter journey to church than the trip to Tvilum.
Voel Church has a distinctive ceramic baptismal font and a large fresco covering the east wall above the altar. The decoration was funded by a Danish expatriate born in Voel.
Red brick architecture
Voel Church was designed as a cruciform church by architect C. Kiilsgaard from Hammel. The church stands on a plinth of hewn fieldstones, whilst the walls are built of small red bricks in a Romanesque-inspired style with round-arched windows and blind arcades.
The church has around 110 fixed seats and is therefore one of the smaller churches in Denmark. Above the west gable stands a small ridge turret with a pyramid-shaped roof, from which the church bell hangs.
