The Streets of Trøjborg – a vibrant neighbourhood with beautiful nature
In the northern part of Aarhus, you’ll find the popular area, Trøjborg. With over 12,000 residents, Trøjborg is a city within a city, with its own cinema, shops, restaurants, nature and a beach nearby. It is particularly popular amongst students, as the university is close by.

If you’re looking for a place to start in Trøjborg, Tordenskjoldsgade is the obvious choice. It’s the main street where most of the local coffee shops, restaurants and cafés are located. Get the full overview here.
With a coffee to go, you can also explore the many shops along the street and finish the day with a visit to their cosy cinema. See the programme here.
Rich in nature and maritime charm
The peaceful life in Trøjborg really comes into its own just a few steps away from Riis Skov. Once you enter the woods, you’ll be treated to a beautiful view of Aarhus Bay and Aarhus Ø. There’s also direct access to the beach, an ice-cream shop and Den Permanente Badeanstalt.
The maritime atmosphere extends from the bay and up into the streets. Many of these are named after Danish naval heroes such as Niels Juel, Otte Rud and Herluf Trolle.
Nordre Kirkegård also helps to define Trøjborg and is truly beautiful, which is why many locals also use it for a stroll.
A touch of history
Years ago, Trøjborg was a grazing area for cattle. Later, the area developed into a working-class neighbourhood, and today, as mentioned, it is a vibrant neighbourhood.
So if you’d like to experience an area that bubbles with a very special sense of calm and local atmosphere, surrounded by nature, shops and restaurants, Trøjborg is well worth a visit.
