Taste the world after closing time
During the school summer holidays, you can experience the Greenhouses in Aarhus in a very special way. Every Wednesday after closing time, the greenhouses open for an exclusive guided tour, where you’ll have the chance to explore plants from all over the world and taste them along the way.
The tour offers new perspectives on plants that many of us are familiar with from everyday life. Among other things, you’ll find answers to questions such as:
- Why do chillies make us sweat and sometimes hiccup?
- Are coconuts actually nuts?
- What are the small black dots inside a banana?
- Can cacti help with a hangover?
- What do the seeds of the lotus plant taste like?
Along the way, the guide will tell you about the plants’ origins, uses and flavours, whilst you enjoy small tastings from different parts of the world.
An exclusive experience in the greenhouses
The tour takes place in small groups, so there is plenty of time for stories, questions and tasting. Once the doors have closed to the day’s other visitors, you and the rest of the group will have the greenhouses almost entirely to yourselves. This creates a special atmosphere and a more immersive experience amongst the tropical plants.
