Through six decades
The musical, which first hit Broadway, was immortalised in 1965 as a five-time Oscar-winning film.
It is the story of Maria, an aspiring nun, a young woman who fights for what she believes in and stands up against injustice in a high-strung Europe. She chooses to leave the convent to become a nanny to seven children in the house of military widower Captain von Trapp.
The children have been raised with strict discipline, but Maria offers them a playful and direct approach to the world.
