How the Medieval Days came about
In 1157, two great armies met in the Blicheregnen region in the Battle of Grathe Hede. Valdemar the Great was victorious over Sweyn Grathe, who ran away from the battle, was murdered in the area and then buried without pomp and splendour in the local church. With Valdemar the Great and his two sons, Denmark gained royal succession, a written history of Denmark, the Dannebrog and common legislation.
