Hjarbæk Strandpark

The beach at Hjarbæk is about 10 meters wide and consists of layed out sand.

Hjarbæk Strandpark (Beach)

In the summer the water in Hjarbæk Fjord can unfortunately be unpleasently coloured by algae. Most of the algea is not dangerous to the bathers but aesthetically, the water is not that inviting when it is green or brown. During the summer - typically in the last part of july- a bloom of so-called blue-green algea may occur in the fiord. Blue-green algea in high concentrations can be dangerous to bathers.

If the concentration of blue-green algea is very high at the beach, Viborg Municipality will through their website inform about this.

Finally bathing at Hjarbæk Strand in the days follwing very heavy showers is not recommended. Very heavy rain can cause blended waste water to run over. Luckily this rarely happens.
