Find the elves at Museum Østjylland in Randers

Don't miss out on the wonderful Christmas atmosphere at Museum Østjylland in Randers, where you can enjoy and take part in lots of Christmas experiences. Join the elf hunt and see if you can find the mischievous little Christmas elves.

Elf pop-up exhibition

In the old days, there were all kinds of elves: archive elves, typesetting elves, post office elves and hay elves. At this Christmas exhibition, you can see where they lived and how they behaved.

In the museum's small elf pop-up exhibition, you can also make your own little elf. The museum has had the small and very old Lundbye elf printed as a nice template, which you can use to create your very own personal elf.

The museum provides all the materials.

On the trail of the museum elves

Christmas is a time of traditions, and one of the most popular traditions at Museum Østjylland is the annual visit of the museum elves, who move into the museum every year and cause mischief.

‘It's the same every year! First we hear a little rustling here and there, then more rustling, and before we know it, the cheeky museum elves have moved into the museum,’ says museum curator Helle Lebahn Bentzen, who met the museum elves for the first time almost 20 years ago. That was when everyone got a real shock because one of the elves had gone to sleep in the museum's very old and delicate green silk shoes. Fortunately, they didn't break.

Where could the elves be hiding this year?

The museum is closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th, and 31st of December.
