Autumn magic with the paddle steamer Hjejlen
Experience a beautiful autumn holiday in the Lake District Søhøjlandet with a special boat trip aboard the Hjejlen or one of the Hjejleselskabet's historic boats.
The Hjejlen is not only an icon in Silkeborg, but also the world's oldest original coal-fired paddle steamer still in operation. Sailing with Hjejlen is like travelling back in time – and during the autumn holidays, you can enjoy the whole experience spiced with the golden colours of the forest.
An experience for the whole family
During the trip, you can enjoy your own food, while hot drinks and cold refreshments can be purchased on board. Children up to 11 years of age sail free with a paying adult (up to three children per adult). It is an ideal excursion where the whole family can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the lake.
Practical information and access
- Guests are called on board in the order in which tickets are purchased.
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure.
- Payment can be made by card or cash, and companion cards are accepted (companions book tickets as children aged 4–11).
- You can park at Silkeborg Harbour. There are good parking facilities nearby, including along Sejsvej and at Iskælderdalen. At the harbour, you can park your car via an app. Read more about parking here.
