The story of the Carmel Mission House dates back to 1918, when the people within the Christian movement Indre Mission fell in love with an available site on the corner of Nørre Allé and Klosterport in the heart of Aarhus. There, they built a mission house, which was designed by architect L. Egefelt and contained four floors, each covering 400 square metres. The house opened its doors to the public in 1921 and at the time, the mission house was the venue in Aarhus that could accommodate the largest number of people.
In 2017, local entrepreneur Kenny Jess Brandt took over the property and established the cultural venue Hotel Carmel – and so in June 2018, a hotel, a restaurant and a salon saw the light of day in the unique building.
