Tour Suggestions
Kolding
The magnificent castle of Koldinghus is famous for its splendid, weather-beaten buildings from five centuries, containing distinguished rooms such as the Great Hall, the Castle Chapel and the Library along with a sombre dungeon. From the top of the Giant’s Tower there is a magnificient view. After a visit here the trip continues to the Art Museum Trapholt. The buildings were inaugurated in 1988 and the museum specializes in 20th century Danish pictorial art and arts and crafts with three categories: ceramics, textiles and furniture. The museum is beautifully situated in picturesque scenery overlooking Kolding Fjord.
Odense
“Funen is a garden fair for the whole realm of Denmark...” the world famous writer of fairy tales, Hans Christian Andersen, once wrote. The tour takes you on a walk through the beautiful old part of the city to his house, one of Odense’s many museums, where you get an impression of the writer’s life and work, in itself a fairytale. We continue to the open-air museum - Den Fynske Landsby - where we go through the history and architecture of life in the Danish countryside during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Skagen
The Kattegat and the Skagerrak meet and brake at the sand dunes. The town of Skagen, which is 600 years old, has a famous environment, painted and described by artists because of its unique light, the yellow houses with red tiled roofs, the scenery and the fishermen. We visit Skagen Museum, where the works of the famous painters such as Michael Ancher and P.S. Krøyer can be experienced.
The Lake District of Silkeborg
After a drive through the Mid-Jutland lake district a visit is payed to the Silkeborg Museum of Art. The museum is beautifully situated at the Gudenå river and displays a comprehensive collection of Danish and European modern art donated by the famous painter Asger Jorn, member of the Cobra Group. The tour continues to Himmelbjerget (the Sky Mountain), the highest point in Denmark 143 m, from where you have a magnificent view of the whole area.
