His outlook on life, based on Darwin's theory of evolution and a belief in technological advance, is very much apparent in his great historical novel "The Fall of the King"-nominated as the Danish novel of 20th century.
He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1944. (Brother of writer Thit Jensen.)
