From April until November you can use any one of the 450 city bikes in Aarhus free of charge 24 hours a day. You can find them dotted around the city in the 57 specially allocated bicycle stands.
Each bicycle has a coin slot (just like shopping trolleys in Danish supermarkets). Insert a 20-kroner coin in the slot and press the “key” into the other slot to unlock the lock and release the bike from the bicycle stand. You get your 20-kroner piece back again when you press the “key” back into the slot at any bicycle stand.
Biking in Aarhus
Aarhus is an excellent city for biking, as it is relatively flat and compact. You can reach most of Aarhus’ attractions by bike and the city has created many cycling paths to ensure a pleasant ride. The streets in the city centre are all pedestrianised, which makes travelling by bicycle the ideal transport for touring around the city.
