Aarhus has been elected
the best Nordic shopping city, and whatever you are looking for, be it nice new clothes, shoes and purses, design goods, antiques, jewellery, or cool second-hand items, you will find it here.
If you are into mainstream fashion in the very best sense of the word, you will definitely feel at home in the
‘Strøget’ pedestrianised high street, and at
Bruun’s Galleri – Denmark’s largest city-shopping centre – both of these offer a large selection of fashion shops.
In the ‘Strøget’ you will also find the
Salling Department Store – the oldest in the city – and down by the river you will find another department store
Magasin. By the river you will also find the
Designertorvet, which sells all sorts of small and amusing design goods.
If you are looking for unique and different things, you should pay a visit to
The Latin Quarter and the
Vestergade street. Here the most trend-setting shopping area of the city is situated, with a nice mixture of funky fashion, and design shops, industrial art shops, etc. Particularly worth a mention is “LYNfabrikken” in Vestergade; a community of companies engaged in design, architecture, and communications, which also has a shop and a café.
Shopping opportunities also abound in the
Frederiksbjerg quarter. The selection of shops here is a bit different compared to the shops in the rest of the city, including shops with delicious delicacies, special fashion shops, fashionable galleries, and industrial art shops and various retro artefacts.
Last, but by no means least, Aarhus can also offer the mysteries of a real bazaar
Bazar Vest – the largest in Scandinavia, by the way.
