If you feel like relaxing in beautiful, lush surroundings, opportunities are plentiful in Aarhus. In addition to the large woodlands, beaches and lakes surrounding the city, there are also several parks.

One of the oldest and largest of these, and one of the most frequently visited, is The Botanical Gardens at the Den Gamle By (The Old Town). The Botanical Gardens are right next to the city centre and contain plants and trees from all over the world. For people who are botanically interested the garden is a veritable paradise, and even for the “ordinary” people of this world who simply find pleasure in being in beautiful surroundings, the gardens are a delight.

The gardens are landscaped in a rolling terrain and with a lot of different areas and spaces of various shapes and sizes, from small intimate ones surrounded by trees and bushes, etc., to large, open grassy ones. There are then, opportunities for everybody, whether you want to play football with your friends or you are going for a romantic picnic.

This is a genuine oasis in the heart of the city.
